The Role
As a Ground Maintenance Operative and member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations, you will deliver grounds maintenance services, and support to the respective standard and ensure the key first and last impressions on the site.
Day-to-day, you’ll delivering specialist grounds services and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the site; delivering the cleaning schedule/specification and responding to specific customer needs, as required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering specialist grounds services, including attention to pest and tree hazards
- Maintaining knowledge, awareness of grounds/land legislates, standards, technical requirements and developments
- Forming part of the on-call rota during periods of inclement weather; supporting site preparations and response to enable ongoing safe access/use of premises
- Ensuring robust application of health, safety and environmental procedures and processes
- Overseeing the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation and performance of tasks allocated
- Cleaning of offices, accommodation rooms, conference rooms, laboratories, workshops, kitchens, toilets, showers and general areas across site as well as ensuring efficient collection of waste items from across site and disposal in the correct receptacles; including kitchen & dry waste recycling bins
Essential experience of the Grounds Maintenance Operative:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive, drive and enthusiasm; ‘can do’ approach
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Previous experience in Grounds Maintenance and ability to thrive as part of a team and work independently where appropriate
- Manual Handling awareness and risk appreciation
Essential qualifications for the Grounds Maintenance Operative:
- Full driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at Eskmeals. Set working times are Monday-Thursday; 07:30-16:30 and Friday 07:30-12:00.
