QinetiQ’s IT organisation is evolving to provide the advanced technology and IT services that underpin QinetiQ’s future global strategy and ambitions. We are now accepting applications for a suitably experienced and skilled Senior Applications Support Specialist, with a can do attitude, to join QinetiQ’s IT family with flexibility to be based in either Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne or Nowra.

Reporting to the Business Applications Manager the Senior Applications Support Specialist will play a key role in developing and supporting QinetiQ’s key business applications, tools and information systems.

Additionally, the Senior Applications Support Specialist will help to develop creative and innovative solutions as QinetiQ’s business needs dictate and will be involved and potentially lead, a number of on larger IT business projects.

The Senior Applications Support Specialist will be accountable for:

  • Install, configure, support and maintain corporate and enterprise wide tool and business application systems;
  • Work with business stakeholders and vendors in the tailoring of commercial software products to meet specific business requirements;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve the more complex assigned/escalated incidents and/or service requests whilst ensuring prompt professional service;
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to other members within the Business Applications team and actively work, communicate and cross-skill with other members of the broader IT team; and
  • Assume leadership responsibilities within the Business Applications team, when the Manager is away, or on leave.

As a suitably experienced and well-rounded IT professional, the Senior Applications Support Specialist will have:

  • Broad knowledge of business tools, applications and technologies that support business functions including areas of Finance, HR, IT, Engineering, etc.
  • Advanced problem solving skills with an analytical mind being able to interpret information and make specific recommendations;
  • Demonstrates initiative, discretion, and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities, while upholding confidentiality;
  • Working knowledge of technologies, such as:
    • M365/Azure Platforms;
    • Sharepoint;
    • Database technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.;
    • ITSM systems and tools, such as ServiceNow, Ivanti, Jira, etc.;
    • Atlassian Confluence & Jira;
    • Data and Analysis toolsets; and
    • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in the development and/or implement of automation solutions using scripting/programming languages, such as PowerShell, Python, VBA, .NET, etc.

Whilst not essential, a tertiary qualification would be advantageous.

Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
