We are currently accepting applications for a Category Lead – Indirects to join our Australia Sector Supply Chain team, to manage allocated Indirect spend categories and contribute to key programs related to this strategically important and growing sector. This role can be based out of Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide or Brisbane.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will contribute to the development and execution of category strategies, working with diverse stakeholders across multiple business units to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements and supplier performance.

The Category Lead – Indirects will be accountable for:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of Category Management strategies across areas such as IT, Facilities, Legal, Finance, Fleet and other allocated categories
  • Assisting Stakeholders in supply chain and procurement activities including cost optimisation, purchasing, forecasting and risk management
  • Contributing knowledge of supplier markets to help improve competitive advantage and service outcomes
  • Supporting the delivery of the Australia Sector supply chain roadmap to ensure alignment with QinetiQ Group Supply Chain processes, systems and policy
  • Collaborating with other departments to identify, qualify and manage suppliers for tactical and strategic purchasing
  • Maintaining awareness of compliance requirements for suppliers in a Defence and National Security environment
  • Implementing a supply chain that supports business strategies, adapts to market changes and cost optimisation needs
  • Building strong working relationships with stakeholders, colleagues, suppliers and external partners to support best practice and consistency in sourcing

As a suitably experienced and well- rounded procurement professional, the Category Lead – Indirects will have:

  • A Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Solid experience in Procurement, Category Management or Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to business or project procurement activities
  • Experience with procurement and supply chain models within ERP systems
  • Exposure to integration and transformation programs desirable
  • Experience in a regulated environment ideally Defence or ISO regulated
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain management, procurement and supplier engagement practices
  • Ability to support process and system improvements in solution design and commercial outcomes
  • Familiarity with import/export of regulated products advantageous
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to address challenges that impact projects and functional delivery
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively
  • A results orientated, organised and delivery focused approach

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance. Current security clearance is advantageous.
