About the role:

Our team are based at the BUTEC Range Terminal Building, Applecross requires a Watchkeeper to work in a small team responsible for maintaining a radar and visual watch of the range area in the Inner Sound. In addition, the Watchkeeper is responsible for the security and cleanliness of the building.

What do I need?

• The successful candidate will have a high level of self-reliance and a responsible attitude when communicating with seagoing/helicopter traffic. Experience of marine radars and radios would be a distinct advantage as would a seafaring background however this is not essential.
• PC skills are a significant part of the job and candidates should be able to demonstrate PC literacy.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.

What will I be doing?

• You must display local knowledge of site to ensure the safe monitoring of the area by visual means, CCTV and radar and the enforcement by close liaison with both local fishing vessels and tourist traffic.
• The Watchkeeper will be assisting in carrying out functions in support of the general management of the facility.
• You will be responsible for meeting and handling of Customers and Contractors unfamiliar with our sites, processes and procedures.
• The Watchkeeper will be providing ground support to the helicopter operational functions ensuring the safety of all passengers including assisting the helicopter operator to ensure all personnel, stores and relevant manifests are safely provisioned.
