THE ROLE
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Linux Engineer to join our innovative team at Inzpire LTD.
Leveraging your deep expertise in Linux, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams for fault resolution and to support product design, ensuring that solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability and security.
As a Level 4 Linux Engineer you will be working as part of a small multi-skilled engineering team supporting the delivery of a secure mission critical Communication Information System. You will be based onsite at RAF Leeming Mon-Fri 8-5 as well as providing out of hours support as part of an on-call rota.
THE PERSON
Essential
- Significant experience managing Linux systems in a production environment.
- Expertise in Linux distributions e.g. Red Hat, Ubuntu, or CentOS.
- Strong proficiency in shell scripting and automation using tools like Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or Docker.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to share knowledge and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
- Proficient in using version control systems like Git.
- Experience with database systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience applying ITIL processes and service management principles.
Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
