The Role
As a Marketing & Communications Lead, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of integrated marketing and communications activity for QinetiQ’s UK Intelligence (UKI) Sector.

Working closely with colleagues across the Group Marketing and Communications team, the role holder will oversee all MarComms activity for UKI, using internal and external channels to target key audiences, including employees, customers and shareholders.

The successful candidate will be a strategic advisor to the UKI leadership team, helping to position the Sector’s capabilities and expertise to key stakeholders.

The role, which can be based at QinetiQ’s HQ in Farnborough or at the Company’s site in Malvern, will report to the Group Strategic Marketing and Communications Director and have one direct report.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify opportunities to promote the work and people of the UKI Sector, raising awareness of QinetiQ’s products, services and expertise both internally and externally
  • Create and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan for UKI that aligns with the Group’s strategy for business growth and positions the Sector for business winning
  • Be part of the UKI leadership team, providing support and guidance on marketing and communications activity that aligns to UKI strategic priorities
  • Manage the UKI MarComms manager and work closely with employee communications and MarComms leads at UKI subsidiaries to align content and brand
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across MarComms and wider Corporate Affairs function to ensure alignment of messaging to key audiences internally and externally
  • Responsible for planning and delivery of UKI focused events and exhibitions within costed budget

Essential skills and experience of the Marketing & Communications Lead:

  • Experience of delivering integrated marketing and communications campaigns that support business priorities
  • Team player who’s willing to work collaboratively across different groups
  • A high level of organisational ability and experience of working independently and at pace to effectively manage multiple projects and take decisions quickly
  • Excellent communicator with outstanding writing skills and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of distilling complex messaging and jargon into relatable language that resonates well with target audiences (customers/investors/employees/media)
  • Complex stakeholder management experience and able to influence at a senior level, have difficult conversations and push back if needed
  • Experience of using audience understanding and data to influence/amend/optimise MarComms activity

Essential qualifications for the Marketing & Communications Lead:

  • Strong communications expertise with demonstrable track record of delivery integrated plans
  • Experience of leading MarComms for a sector or line of business in a matrix organisation
  • MarComms experience for a listed company/corporate environment would be useful
  • Media relations experience is desirable but not essential
  • Background in defence, security and/or technology would be advantageous

This role is 37 hours per week based at either or Farnborough or Malvern site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
