The Role
As a Senior Programme Manager, you will become an integral member of a dynamic PMO function, where you are fully responsible and accountable to understand and deliver the programme vision, objectives and benefits
Day-to-day, you will lead and motivate Project Managers within the programme to ensure they are embedding health and safety and providing safe practices of work. Ensuring teams are collaborating effectively and working towards the same goal to deliver the outputs and/or outcomes delivering on time, within scope and budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for overall programme performance throughout the lifecycle, including baseline management and delivering within budget ensuring the relevant governance and assurance is undertaken
- Integrated planning – Shaping and structuring the programme to accomplish the vision by ensuring the related projects are equipped with the appropriate Project Management plans
- Budget and Cost Control – Working closely with the Portfolio Office to ensure programme controls are in place
- Stakeholder engagement – Fostering a collaborative approach, engage, influence and collaborate with all stakeholders (Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain & Portfolio Office)
Essential experience of the Senior Programme Manager:
- Typically, would have 10+ years’ experience working in a Project environment and leading programmes
- Has extensive experience of using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and SAP
Essential qualifications for the Senior Programme Manager:
- APM PMQ, ChPP, PMI PgMP, or AIPM CPPD qualified

This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Bristol or Boscombe Down facilities with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.

The QinetiQ facility in Bristol is part of the company’s broader operation focused on defence and technology innovation. The site houses a diverse team of engineers, scientists and technical professionals who bring expertise to various projects ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Boscombe Down
MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight-testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
