The Role
As a Technical Accounting Specialist, you will be the business partner of choice, delivering safely, responsibly and sustainably for the benefit of all our stakeholders and in support of the strategic growth of the business to delivery operational advantage
Day-to-day, You’ll Support the Group in meeting its financial reporting requirements as a publicly listed company as well as supporting the UK based statutory accounts including relevant audits and iXBRL tagging.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that the Group is appropriately prepared and set-up to be compliant with new accounting standards
- Investigating and facilitating solutions to potentially complex accounting issues that arise both at a Group level and within the business
- Liaising with business finance staff to provide technical advice and support e.g. how to account for the Group’s long-term contracts
- Providing financial and accounting support to other Group functions including treasury, tax, business strategy, and investor relations on an ad-hoc basis
- Monitoring changes in the Financial Reporting environment, producing assessments of the impact on QinetiQ of new accounting standards
Essential experience of the Technical Accounting Specialist:
- Detailed experience of statutory financial reporting for listed companies and non-listed subsidiaries
- Strong technical accounting skills with detailed and comprehensive knowledge of IFRS
Essential qualifications for the Technical Accounting Specialist:
- Must hold a relevant accounting qualification for example ACA/ACCA

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site and this is hybrid-based role with an average expectation of 3 days per week onsite.
