The Role
As an Operations & Continuous Improvement Coordinator you will support the Deputy Head of AEC and the AEC Group Lead on the management of all operational aspects of the Aviation Engineering Centre (AEC).
Day-to-day, you’ll support the management of performance metrics and reviews, communications, facility management, competency management and generic AEC risk assessments. The position administrates the Aerospace Quality Management manual in collaboration with the Quality Function, supporting the adoption of this framework to understand AEC performance. Additionally, leading positive change through the AEC in collaboration with the AEC Leadership community, by virtue of managing a programme of Continuous Improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of a Programme of Continuous Improvement activities as agreed with the Head/Deputy Head of AEC and AEC Group Lead
- Maintaining a rolling monthly status of AEC performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
- Generation of the monthly AEC Performance Review pack, supporting the Deputy Head of AEC in the presentation of the pack at the Air Business, Senior Management Reviews
- Maintenance of AEC management databases in collaboration with the AEC Group Lead and Deputy Head of AEC
- Supporting the Head of AEC in the maintenance of the AEC 3-Year Strategic Plan, contributing to the AECs strategic future goals and ensuring Continuous Improvement activities and budgets are fully aligned and followed through
Essential experience of the Operations & Continuous Improvement Coordinator:
- Leading tasks to support the implementation of change programmes and the continuous improvement of process, ways of working, and ultimately culture, in the pursuit of improved, efficiency, on-time delivery and customer delight
- A working understanding and knowledge of ‘lean’ methodologies, engineering project lifecycles and configurations management
- A high degree of computer literacy, including the use of finance tools, databases, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft products, including the more advanced aspects of Excel such Functions and Pivot Tables
- Recognised as being highly organised with previous experience and responsibility for producing operational assets and leading continuous Improvement activities within a high tech, regulated environment
- A ‘can do’ attitude that supports a thriving environment delivering at pace with their colleagues, whilst ensuring stringent compliance to safety and regulatory requirements and meeting customer’s needs
Essential qualifications for the Operations & Continuous Improvement Coordinator:
- Relevant Business Qualification with good GCSE levels and/or evidence of experience and development to this level through vocational development

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of four days per week. Flexible working is available.

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
