The Role
As Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead, you will support the delivery and evolution of a highly secure, network-driven platform responsible for processing and transmitting critical data within a Defence setting.

Day-to-day, You’ll work closely with the Technical Lead to provide technical oversight across infrastructure, networking, and security, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, and performant in a live 24/7 environment.

This role sits at the intersection of network engineering, cyber security, and systems integration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across disciplines and stepping into a broader technical leadership position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading technical activities across network, infrastructure, and systems engineering teams
  • Providing oversight to ensure secure and reliable data flow across networked systems
  • Supporting the implementation of security controls, encryption, and secure data handling practices
  • Driving improvements to system performance, resilience, and availability
  • Producing and reviewing technical documentation and designs
  • Engaging with stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges

Essential experience of the Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead:

  • Strong background in network engineering (routing, firewalls, secure connectivity)
  • Experience working within secure or high-assurance IT environments
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles and secure system design
  • Experience supporting high availability or mission-critical systems
  • Background in infrastructure or systems integration
  • Ability to work across teams and contribute to technical leadership

Essential qualifications for the Infrastructure & Systems Deputy Lead:

  • Exposure to encryption, cryptography, or secure data transfer principles
  • Experience with scripting or automation (Python or PowerShell)
  • Previous experience in Defence, government, or regulated environments
  • Willingness and eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
  • Professional certifications such as ITIL, Security+, Network+, or similar (or working towards)

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
