The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will join a team that develops and integrates nose ranging and tracking capabilities within Underwater Test and Evaluation delivering high quality systems engineering outcomes. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a very exciting defence challenge.
Day-to-day, you’ll be delivering high-quality systems engineering outcomes supporting the UK’s ranging capability under the LTPA programme. This includes system architecture definition, concepts of operations, detailed system modelling, testing integration and even delivery to the range.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Applying a systems engineering approach and delivering key engineering activities across significant projects
- Engaging with stakeholders, project managers and technical teams to meet customer and business requirements
- Leading technical teams, structuring workloads, reviewing outputs and managing junior systems engineers
- Defining and applying systems engineering processes including requirements engineering, system design and support
- Delivering technical documentation, reporting progress and escalating major technical issues where required
- Applying relevant regulatory, safety and technical standards to ensure compliance
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:
- Sound understanding of systems engineering principles, lifecycle processes and wider engineering management considerations
- Proven experience determining suitable systems engineering approaches while considering enterprise, political and acquisition factors
- Track record of applying relevant systems engineering techniques to support effective project delivery
- Previous experience defining required engineering outputs including management plans, product descriptions and test reports
- Proven ability anticipating potential problems, understanding wider impacts and determining appropriate solutions
- Experience demonstrating strong understanding of requirements, specifications and system design alongside effective negotiation and presentation skills
Essential qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough, Malvern, Portsmouth or Bristol site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
