Job Summary:
The Sr Application Engineer is responsible in supporting our data communications business in delivering a high quality, customer-focused products to market. The successful candidate will focus on designing and executing experiments to prove, optimize, and support our products as they are intended to be used in our customer’s application. The Application Engineering function supports all phases of the product lifecycle, from Product Definition through to production validation and end-of-life.
Responsibilities:
1. Infrastructure Development (10%)
Develop software tools and test automation to enable product evaluation and qualification for yourself and your peers.
2. NPI Project Support (40%)
Represent the Applications team as the lead engineer in the project core team.
Independently develop Fitness to Applications Test Plans for NPI and drive execution through your contributions and those of other team members.
Interpret lab data results and derive actionable conclusions.
Provide critical performance feedback to influence new product development and customer product improvements.
3. Customer Support (20%)
Create technical customer collateral, including test reports, application notes, and input for data sheets.
Conduct root cause analyses to recreate and resolve customer issues, driving and defending revenue.
Organize and lead customer calls.
4. Industry Standards Contribution and Conferences (10%)
Attend conferences and tradeshows, addressing technical questions on product demonstrations.
Influence industry standards through lab measurements, standards contributions, and participation in interop events.
5. Applications Mentorship (20%)
Lead and influence within your area of expertise while maintaining broad knowledge to effectively communicate issues to the appropriate team members.
Train and mentor junior and staff engineers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics
Knowledge or ability to learn base operating system of hardware (Arista CLI, Open Network Linux, etc.)
Knowledge in python code to create equipment drivers for control and automation of equipment.
Knowledge of Ethernet standards.
Background in RF and signal integrity with strong experience with VNA measurements
Knowledge in PAM4 signaling, transmitter TxFIR and receiver equalization theory and application
Knowledge of testing environment and equipment such as Bit Error Rate Testers, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers. Running scope compliance and math functions for calibration and measurement
Strong written and oral communication skills
Effective time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
5+ years’ experience in Optical Transceiver, Active Copper Cable test or Host System qualification is preferred

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
