SCI (Semtech Colorado Inc) is a fast paced, high-volume manufacturer of Semtech products. We operate in two, 24-hour per day factories that supply Semtech products globally.

This role is ideal for a proven engineering leader with expertise in automation, Industry 4.0, high-volume manufacturing, and lean methodologies. You’ll lead a team driving process improvements, system integration, and data-driven manufacturing strategies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will set direction, manage engineering resources, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure effective execution of automation and process improvement initiatives. This role includes oversight of MES, SCADA, and control systems, and plays a key part in shaping long-term operational efficiency and digital transformation.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a senior engineering leader with a strong background in team leadership, automation, and high-volume manufacturing. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on mentoring engineers, setting a clear direction, and building high-performing, cross-functional teams.

As Senior Manager, you will lead the Automation and Industrial Engineering function, aligning team priorities with business goals and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’ll oversee process improvement and automation initiatives, manage engineering resources, and support the professional growth of your team.

This role works closely with Quality and Manufacturing teams to identify process gaps, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions that improve product quality and production reliability.

You will also guide the strategy and implementation of systems such as MES, SCADA, and equipment controls to support real-time visibility, data-driven decision-making, and long-term operational efficiency. A key focus of the role is enabling systems that allow end users to report operational status and escalate issues—making experience with manufacturing software tools essential.

Collaboration with cross-functional partners—including Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain—is critical to ensure smooth project execution, knowledge transfer, and successful production handover.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers; align priorities with business needs and foster professional growth. (15%)
  • Provide leadership on MES, SCADA, and PLC/automation systems to enable real-time monitoring, traceability, and control. (15%)
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and R&D to implement scalable, high-efficiency production solutions. (10%)
  • Analyze production and equipment performance data to support continuous improvement and predictive maintenance. (10%)
  • Prepare and present project updates, ROI analyses, and improvement outcomes to senior leadership. (10%)
  • Define and execute strategic automation and process improvement projects using Lean, TPM, and Six Sigma tools. (10%)
  • Drive the development and maintenance of cost models to inform process changes and capital investments. (10%)
  • Oversee CapEx projects, including vendor selection, equipment specifications, and implementation oversight. (10%)
  • Optimize facility layouts and cleanroom processes using lean manufacturing principles. (5%)
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards across all initiatives. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in automated manufacturing or a related high-volume production environment.
  • 3+ years of successful cross-functional team leadership with a track record of managing competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles (e.g., VSM, 5S, TPM, JIT, Kaizen, SPC).
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA, and PLC systems (e.g., Studio 5000, Automation Direct, TwinCAT).
  • Proficient in SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence across teams and levels.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (<10%) to support external partners or manufacturing sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Degree in Industrial, Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years of management experience.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor assembly or related high-tech manufacturing, including cleanroom environments.
  • Experience with FlexSim, Tableau, SAP, SECS / GEM and OPC / industrial protocols.
  • MES development and management.
  • 7 years’ experience in PLC programing and HMI design.
  • Software programming qualification (C#, C++, VB.Net).
  • Familiar with SAP, AutoCAD, 5 Whys, 8D.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
