Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, skilled, and collaborative Field Systems Engineer to serve as the intersection of sales and engineering. You will work in unison with our Strategic Account Managers to support and build pipelines with product demonstrations and customer Proof of Concepts, as well as with our internal Product Management and Engineering teams to help define customer feature requests.
The Field Systems Engineer will partner with two Strategic Account Managers supporting the US West region, leading commercial and public sector pre-sales technical engagements with key customers and channel partners, helping to drive revenue generation goals, and meeting and exceeding sales quotas set by SVP of Sales. This role requires ability to travel up to 30%, mostly within region.
Responsibilities:
- Support Strategic Account Managers and channel partners from a pre-sales technical perspective with end-customer accounts, collaborating to develop winning strategies and solutions that meet customer needs
- Build technical relationships with customers and channel partners, leading all pre-sales activities, supporting demonstrations, proof of concepts, and managing evaluations
- Thoroughly understand products, features, functions, and benefits to translate customer business needs into Semtech solutions
- Overcome technical objections and drive trial and proof of concept integrations
- Serve as a trusted advisor for both internal and external stakeholders, articulating technology and product positioning at the executive, business, and technical levels of decision-makers and operating personnel
- Maintain technical integrity through training, coursework, and competitive intelligence
- Contribute to internal initiatives within team, Product Management, Development/Engineering, and other organizations
- Handle relevant tasks, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering with focus on Pre-Sales roles (solutions architect, systems engineer, sales engineer, etc.), data-specific technical product lines, sales-oriented technical fields, and IP-based wireless technology
- Experience working with data-specific technical product lines, including knowledge of embedded software/hardware and SaaS
- Knowledge of wireless data technology 3GPP LTE, 5G, SIM, eUICC
- Expertise in IP networking across all layers of the OSI model and protocols including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, dot1Q Vlans, IPsec Tunnels, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, as well as firewalls
- Practical use of routing and/or switching, including troubleshooting
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills, including drafting and reviewing architectural drawings
- PC skills require intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to established deadlines
- Ability to work in a work-from-home environment and maintain performance
- Maintain a high level of integrity, quality work standards, and service excellence
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years experience required; experience in the Semiconductor preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification
- Strong knowledge of Docker Container
- Strong knowledge of API integration
- Experience with complex analogue, digital and data transmission system modeling
