Job Summary:
The Test Engineer 2 position is responsible for performing moderately complex test engineering activities within our semiconductor company. This position develops test methodologies, optimizes test processes, and resolves test-related issues to ensure effective product verification and validation. The role requires solid understanding of semiconductor testing principles, technical skills, and analytical abilities to improve test effectiveness and efficiency in the specialized semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Test Development and Implementation (25%)
- Develop and implement test methodologies for assigned products and technologies
- Create effective test programs and procedures for semiconductor devices
- Design test flows and sequences to optimize coverage and efficiency
- Implement test requirements and specifications
- Validate and document test methods and procedures
Test Analysis and Optimization (20%)
- Analyze test data and results to identify trends and patterns
- Develop test optimization strategies to improve efficiency and coverage
- Implement statistical analysis techniques for test data
- Identify correlations between test results and product performance
- Optimize test parameters and limits based on data analysis
Test Equipment Engineering (15%)
- Configure and maintain test equipment and automated test systems
- Implement test hardware setup and calibration procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues affecting test quality
- Support test fixture design and implementation
- Optimize test equipment utilization and performance
Test Problem Resolution (15%)
- Investigate and resolve moderately complex test-related issues
- Analyze test failures and anomalies
- Implement corrective actions for test problems
- Coordinate with product and process engineering on test improvements
- Document test issues and resolution processes
Yield and Quality Improvement (15%)
- Support test yield improvement initiatives
- Analyze test fallout and identify improvement opportunities
- Implement test changes to enhance product quality and verification
- Coordinate with quality engineering on test-related quality issues
- Develop strategies to optimize test coverage while maintaining efficiency
Technical Project Support (10%)
- Support test engineering projects and initiatives
- Participate in new product introduction test activities
- Assist with test technology evaluations and implementations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on test-related matters
- Develop and maintain test documentation and specifications
Travel Requirements
- Minimal travel required (5-10% of time)
- May require occasional travel between company facilities and customer sites
Level of Authority
- Makes decisions regarding test methods, parameters, and optimization approaches
- Recommends test strategy improvements and efficiency enhancements
- Escalates significant test issues to appropriate engineering management
- Works independently on standard test engineering activities with general supervision
- Collaborates with product, manufacturing, and quality teams on test matters
Job Complexity
- Performs moderately complex test engineering activities requiring technical knowledge and judgment
- Develops test solutions involving multiple parameters, specifications, and measurement techniques
- Resolves test issues requiring understanding of device characteristics and test methodologies
- Requires knowledge of semiconductor device operation and performance parameters
- Expected to balance test coverage with efficiency and cost objectives
- Navigates competing priorities from various engineering and manufacturing stakeholders
- Works in complex semiconductor environment with specialized test requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 2-4 years of experience in semiconductor test engineering, validation, or related roles
- Experience with test program development and test equipment operation
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation techniques
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or product engineering preferred
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor test principles, methodologies, and equipment
- Technical understanding of semiconductor device parameters and failure mechanisms
- Proficiency with test program development, debugging, and optimization
- Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test data analysis tools
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective technical communication and documentation skills
- Understanding of statistical analysis techniques and data interpretation
- Knowledge of test hardware interfaces and test fixture design
- Ability to balance test coverage, quality, and efficiency requirements
- Experience with test yield analysis and improvement methodologies
- Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and product specifications

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $60,000 - $74,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
