About the role
In this newly created position, we are seeking a pragmatic, tech-savvy Legal Counsel who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role is ideal for someone with well-rounded experience across disputes, consumer law advice, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance.
You will operate autonomously, reporting to the Group Head of Legal, managing a range of matters while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and legal operations. The ideal candidate is solutions-focused, up to date with the latest in legal technology software, and able to balance commercial realities with legal risk.
Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual disputes portfolio, including litigation strategy, Court and Tribunal appearances, settlement negotiations, and liaising with external counsel.
- Work closely with key stakeholders on conflict resolutions strategies.
- Manage internal reporting and escalations of disputes.
- Drive process improvements on the management, enforcement and reporting of the disputes portfolio.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
- Provide pragmatic advice to internal stakeholders on contract risks, obligations, and mitigations.
- Review customer facing marketing materials for compliance with consumer laws and other applicable laws.
- Identify and implement efficiencies in legal processes and reporting.
- Manage matter tracking, success metrics, and future planning for legal technology and tools.
- Produce regular reports and insights for senior stakeholders.
- Monitor regulatory developments and provide clear, actionable advice to the business.
- Support privacy, consumer law and other regulatory compliance initiatives and manage complaints and queries.
- Draft and update corporate policies, procedures, and governance documents.
- Support stakeholder engagement and ensure governance frameworks remain current and practical.

What you’ll bring
- 2-4 years PQE in either private practice or in house
- Strong experience in end to end Dispute management
- A keen interest in learning and understanding new technologies in order to improve processes
- Ability to work autonomously
- Comfortable in a fast paced high growth environment
- Comfortable reporting to and working with C- Suite and senior management
- Comfortable with working across time zones (Australia and the UK)
