About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Merchandise Planner to join our team in Sydney based in Alexandria. This role involves deeper ownership of product areas, providing data-driven insights, and partnering closely with Buying and Planning teams to maximise sales, margin, and stock efficiency. As our Junior Planner, you’ll drive profitable growth by owning inventory, sales, and margin planning across the business. The Junior Planner ensures the right product is in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity—balancing demand, cash flow, and margin outcomes.


Key Responsibilities will include:

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Support the management of seasonal and annual sales, margin, and inventory plans
  • Support OTB (Open-to-Buy) and in-season re-forecasting
  • Support the broader planning function to ensure we deliver against revenue, GP%, and stock turn targets

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Optimise stock levels across stores and online
  • Manage intake, allocation, and replenishment strategies
  • Drive actions to minimise markdowns and excess stock

Trade & Performance Analysis

  • Analyse weekly trade performance (sales, sell-through, WOS, margin)
  • Identify risks and opportunities, recommending clear actions
  • Partner with Buying to react quickly to trade trends

Range & Assortment Planning

  • Support range architecture (depth vs breadth, size curves, lifecycle)
  • Align assortment plans with financial targets and customer demand
  • Contribute to category growth strategies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Buying, Retail, Ecom, and Supply Chain
  • Ensure alignment between demand planning and execution
  • Influence key commercial decisions through data

Reporting & Insights

  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting to leadership
  • Provide insights to improve planning frameworks and accuracy
  • Continuously refine forecasting models and too

To be successful you will ideally have:

  • Demonstrated 2–5+ years in merchandise planning or retail analytics
  • Strong commercial acumen with a bias to action
  • Advanced excel / planning tools capability
  • Ability to interpret data and confidently present insights and recommendations with advanced excel skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proactive and adaptable with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Understanding of retail planning principles and stock life cycle management
