Senior Architect
TracPlus
TracPlus provides mission-critical tracking, analytics, and operational intelligence for aerial firefighting, emergency response, utilities, law enforcement, and specialist aviation operators globally. Our technology is essential for managing some of the most complex, high-risk operations where safety, accountability, and performance are paramount.
TracPlus develops telemetry and data solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of wildfire-fighting organizations. As the only commercial provider of integrated aircraft tracking solutions for wildfires, TracPlus integrates multiple data streams and asset types into a unified view for mission-critical operations. Using a powerful, cloud-based platform, TracPlus enables customers to track, manage, and communicate with land, maritime, and aviation assets to ensure safety, optimal resource use, and coordination. Trusted by first responders, government agencies, and militaries worldwide, TracPlus has been a key player in major global disaster responses over the past five years.
We are looking for a Senior Architect to own and evolve TracPlus’ technical architecture across cloud infrastructure, core platforms, integrations, and mobile applications in a highly available, mission-critical environment.
About the Role
The Senior Architect is responsible for defining, delivering, and continuously improving the end-to-end technical architecture that underpins TracPlus’ global platform. This is a deeply hands-on leadership role — balancing architectural strategy with active engineering, operational ownership, and system reliability.
This position is central to ensuring TracPlus’ platform remains secure, resilient, scalable, and fit for mission-critical operations. The Senior Architect works closely with the CTO, engineering teams, contractors, and offshore partners to reduce technical risk, embed engineering excellence, and support rapid business growth across global markets.
What You'll Do
Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Own the end-to-end platform architecture across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), backend services, integrations, and web and mobile applications.
- Define and maintain architectural standards, coding practices, and design principles to ensure system consistency and scalability.
- Lead architectural decision-making, balancing delivery velocity, cost, resilience, and risk.
- Review and guide complex system designs and major production changes.
Hands-on Engineering & Operational Excellence
- Remain actively involved in production systems across GCP infrastructure and services.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and performance issues.
- Lead reliability and resilience practices, including monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in escalation and on-call support where required.
Security, Quality & Risk Management
- Embed a security-first and quality-driven engineering culture across teams.
- Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and data protection expectations.
- Identify technical debt, architectural risk, and single points of failure, and drive pragmatic remediation.
- Strengthen system resilience through redundancy, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Team Enablement & Capability Building
- Mentor senior engineers and uplift architectural capability across the organisation.
- Ensure architectural knowledge is documented, accessible, and resilient to change.
- Guide contractors and offshore partners to deliver within TracPlus’ engineering standards.
- Support delivery teams while protecting long-term platform integrity.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Leadership
- Partner closely with the CTO, engineering managers, and product leaders on platform evolution and delivery priorities.
- Communicate architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
- Provide calm, decisive technical leadership during incidents and periods of platform change.
What You Bring
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in software engineering, including senior or principal architecture roles.
- Strong hands-on experience operating production systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proven ownership of complex, mission-critical platforms across infrastructure and applications.
- Deep experience with cloud services, modern backend architectures, system integrations, and CI/CD automation.
- Experience leading reliability, incident response, and operational improvement initiatives.
Highly Valued
- Experience with mobile applications (iOS and Android).
- Exposure to regulated, safety-critical, or high-availability environments.
- Experience working with distributed teams, contractors, or offshore partners.
Technical & Leadership Mindset
- Comfortable being hands-on across code, infrastructure, and live systems.
- Pragmatic, outcome-focused, and resilient under pressure.
- Security-aware by default, with strong systems thinking.
- Leads through technical credibility, calm judgement, and shared ownership.
