We are currently looking for a talented, highly motivated Principal Java Software Engineer for our DbProtect Engineering Team.

The position will be a key team member of the database security software team whose focus is to design and implement new and enhance existing features and services, mentor junior members and help moving the product to a new architecture.

Your Opportunity

  • Work as part of a small, agile team to design, prototype and build new product offerings and enhance existing products and tools
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Technical Leadership to identify, prioritize and document detailed product requirements
  • Mentor junior developers and occasionally lead them in small project teams
  • Design, develop and document application and framework code, mostly in Java
  • Create robust automated unit/functional test suites and deployment scripts
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Improve our team's processes and efficiency with your ideas

What You'll Need

  • 8-10+ Years of experience with object-oriented design and Java programming skills, including experience with leading open-source frameworks such as Spring/Springboot, Hibernate and Junit
  • Familiarity with Maven, Ant or similar build systems
  • Real-world experience building large scale, high availability applications
  • Familiarity with agile/iterative development methodologies (XP, SCRUM, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience with source code management tools such as Git or Subversion
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with creativity
  • Self-motivated, independent and able to quickly assess and understand complex systems
  • Be a team player

Additional Plus Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Anguar.JS and NodeJS
  • Knowledge of JavaScript and web technologies for the browser (HTML, XML, CSS)
  • Expertise in the software security field
  • Experience and/or willingness to write technical blog posts (See https://www.trustwave.com/en-us/resources/blogs/spiderlabs-blog/)
  • Familiarity with SDLC and Web Application Security

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college or university degree is a plus.
