About the Role
We are a high-growth cybersecurity startup seeking a hands-on and proactive Senior Accountant to help build and scale our accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and has deep experience with NetSuite. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting, while also helping to establish processes and controls from the ground up and help strengthen our accounting operations as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & General Accounting
- Own key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses.
- Help shorten close timelines and improve accuracy through automation and process improvements in NetSuite.
Payroll & Commissions
- Record and reconcile payroll, including salaries, bonuses, and commissions.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales Ops to ensure accurate commission accruals and payouts.
- Maintain payroll-related accruals and ensure compliance with company policies.
Asset and Inventory Management
- Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reporting.
- Track capital expenditures, disposals, and depreciation/amortization schedules.
- Track and account for capitalization of internal-use software in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain inventory records for hardware and cybersecurity equipment.
- Perform reconciliations and support periodic inventory counts.
- Maintain accounting for leases in accordance with ASC 842, including modifications, remeasurements, and disclosures.
Lease Accounting
- Administer lease accounting under ASC 842.
- Maintain lease schedules and record right-of-use assets and liabilities.
Intercompany Transactions
- Record and reconcile intercompany activity across entities.
- Support consolidation and elimination entries within NetSuite.
Audit & Compliance
- Support annual financial audits, including preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring timely completion.
- Assist with internal controls documentation and process improvements to strengthen financial governance.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HR, FP&A, Procurement, and Engineering to ensure accurate financial data and alignment across teams.
- Support process automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑eligible preferred.
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS, technology, or cybersecurity.
- Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite (required).
- Deep understanding of GAAP, including ASC 842 and capitalized software guidance.
- Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Experience
- SaaS or cybersecurity industry experience.
- Experience building accounting processes from scratch or scaling operations.
- Exposure to inventory accounting in a tech/hardware-enabled business.
Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college or university degree is a plus.
