What the day will look likeAs part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions for our digital forensics practices. .This is an entry-level role working in support of the Digital Forensics and Incident Response (“DFIR”) group in a diverse consulting and managed services organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with various members of the DFIR and Operations team to perform daily tasks associated with client engagements. In addition, the Lab Technician is responsible for augmenting/strengthening personal forensic skill and the management of evidence. Duties will include forensic analysis, imaging and documentation, the intake of client property, creation of evidence listings, secure storage of evidence, transfer of evidence, destruction of evidence, and maintenance of up-to-date database records. Client data preservation and Forensic Analysis Document and preserve data from electronic data sources using forensic imaging techniques on various media including laptop and desktop computers, servers, and mobile devices.Support forensic examiners by conducting forensic analysis.Maintain proficiency with industry standard tools and practices.Maintain a high level of professionalism in all areas of performance.Develop and broaden forensic skill set through outside training and research. Evidence Handling and database maintenance Assist in management onsite of all evidence. Assist in maintenance of highly organized and secure evidence room.Receive incoming evidence from clients or third parties and initiate Chain of Custody records.Locate evidence as needed.Track evidence through hard copy Chain of Custody records.Assist in client property return during and at the end of a caseCreate new evidence listings in the database for all media associated by matter.Ensure up-to-date database that reflects the correct location and assignment of all evidence.Assist in periodic checks of all evidence to ensure accuracy in database listings.Conduct searches and create reports using the evidence database listings. Lab Management and maintenance and administrative tasks Support in lab operations, such as assigning workstations, troubleshooting workstation access, including connectivity issues.Support forensic examiners by connecting/disconnecting evidence and drives when requested. Administrative responsibilities and special projects for the Digital Forensics lab as directed by the Managing Director.This role is an in-person/in-office role to support the DFIR and operations team. Skills and experience that will lead to success Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, IT Security/Cyber Security, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience.Exposure to industry standard data collection tools such as CelleBrite, LogicCube Forensic Falcon, Magnet GreyKey, etc. is preferred.Comfort with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and browser software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Perform highly detailed work with clear goals and minimal direction. Able to manage multiple priorities with flexibility and enthusiasm. Work effectively and professionally with others. General knowledge of computer hardware terminology preferred. Able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis.
