Position Summary
Reporting to the VP Finance, the Tax Manager is responsible for providing best-in-class tax management and supporting activities to the business operations of the company. The Tax Manager’s primary mandate will be to assume front line responsibility for all tax matters by leading all tax reporting, compliance, and planning activities for Vena. This role is accountable for i) Leading tax compliance and planning for the Company, ii) Preparing, filing and ensuring that the payment of taxes are completed on time and in compliance with tax laws for all legal entities within the group, iii) Researching and reporting on tax queries, iv) Liaising with auditors, and iv) preparing/finalizing comprehensive tax memos and engaging in tax planning for the Company.
What you will do
- Ensure multi-jurisdictional tax compliance for all of Vena legal entities, including corporate, commodity and payroll-related taxes
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and tax authorities to ensure global tax compliance and timely and accurate filing of multi-jurisdictional tax returns as well as other regulatory filings
- Work with external advisors to develop and manage the global transfer pricing program, including regular monitoring
- Ownership of the Company’s tax provision and related financial statement disclosures including tax account reconciliations and supporting working papers
- Effectively communicate tax objectives and strategies to company leadership
- Keep updated with current accounting and tax laws and regulations impacting the income tax provision, federal and state income tax returns, and other compliance requirements
- Provide technical advice related to income and non-income tax issues as requested including tax memos and position papers to support corporate and employee tax related matters
- Manage tax return preparation and filings as well as notices/assessments received from governmental bodies
Does this sound like you?
- 4+ years' experience in tax management preferably working with a rapidly growing international organization operating in multiple jurisdictions
- Knowledge of business processes, internal controls, and legal entity financial reporting
- Practical exposure to corporate structuring and transfer pricing decision making processes
- Strong analytical and exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively with internal departments and tax authorities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong business acumen and ability to communicate, in a clear and concise manner, on complex tax matters
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and able to demonstrate sound judgment
- CPA designation. Completed or currently enrolled in the CPA In-depth tax course. Knowledge and exposure to taxation in Canadian, US, UK, and/or India, including SRED and transfer pricing, an asset
