Description
We are seeking a Manager, Cloud Operations to lead the reliability and operations function for the Acterys platform within the SaaS Technology & Operations (STO) organization. This role is responsible for establishing and scaling a structured Site Reliability capability, integrating existing DevOps contributors, and maturing operational standards in alignment with a growing global Development organization. The ideal candidate brings experience leading teams operating highly available, globally distributed SaaS platforms on Microsoft Azure. This leader will combine strong people management with deep operational expertise, ensuring platform resilience, scalability, automation, and observability. Reporting into STO leadership team with members across Canada, Eastern Europe, and India, this role is accountable for maintaining a reliable, secure, and SOC 2 Type II–compliant production environment while embedding modern SRE principles across the platform.

Description

This leader will combine strong people management with deep operational expertise, ensuring platform resilience, scalability, automation, and observability. Reporting into STO leadership team with members across Canada, Eastern Europe, and India, this role is accountable for maintaining a reliable, secure, and SOC 2 Type II–compliant production environment while embedding modern SRE principles across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the Site Reliability & DevOps function for Vena’s Acterys platform within the STO organization.
- Provide direct people leadership, including performance management, career development, and succession planning for geographically distributed engineers.
- Own hiring strategy and team growth to ensure the function scales in alignment with platform and development expansion.
- Integrate existing DevOps contributors into a structured operating model with clear accountability, ownership boundaries, and operational standards.
- Ensure appropriate on-call coverage and operational readiness in partnership with broader STO leadership, maintaining clear escalation paths and incident management processes.
- Own operational excellence across SaaS, hybrid, and on-premise deployment models, ensuring reliability, scalability, repeatability, and resilience.
- Provide technical leadership for Azure-based cloud infrastructure leveraging infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and modern CI/CD practices.
- Establish and mature SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident response, root cause analysis, and a strong post-incident review culture.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation, deployment reliability, environment consistency, and reduction of manual operational effort (toil).
- Maintain effective work tracking, documentation, and reporting practices that provide visibility into platform health, reliability trends, and roadmap alignment.
- Partner closely with Development leadership to embed production readiness, observability, and reliability engineering into the software development lifecycle.
- Ensure the platform operates in alignment with SOC 2 Type II controls and audit requirements as they relate to operational processes.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to provide timely support for critical issues as required.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Software Engineering roles.
- 3+ years of experience in a people leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience operating and scaling SaaS platforms on Microsoft Azure.
- Strong expertise in Azure infrastructure architecture, cloud networking, identity, and platform services.
- Proven hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Experience building and operating modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience supporting global, multi-region cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, and post-mortem culture.
- Experience supporting hybrid and/or on-premise deployment models in addition to SaaS environments.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to drive outcomes across Development, Product, and Operations teams.
- Experience operating within SOC 2 Type II governed environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL-based service management practices.
- Experience working across globally distributed teams and time zones.
- Experience with AWS in addition to Azure.
- Leaders in this role hold direct accountability for the operational health, reliability posture, and production readiness of the Acterys platform. Decisions made in this role materially impact customer experience, system stability, and development velocity.

- Partners with Vena Product & Technology leadership across Canada, Eastern Europe, and India to align operational strategy with broader organizational objectives.
