Job Description

Overview:
We’re looking for a skilled and strategic leader to join Xplor as the Manager of our Public Cloud Platform team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving key cloud platform capabilities, including cost optimization (FinOps), landing zone architecture, and scalable cloud engineering across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You’ll lead a global team of cloud engineers focused on building secure, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure that supports Xplor’s diverse business needs.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise-scale cloud environments (multi-account, multi-org, and multi-tenant) setups and knows how to balance governance with speed. You’ll work closely with engineering teams across the company, including SaaS Engineering, SRE, Data, and others, to ensure our cloud platform is enabling innovation, operational excellence, and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Cost Management:
    • Lead the development and execution of FinOps practices to ensure efficient and transparent use of cloud resources.
    • Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
    • Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and Engineering teams to align cloud investment with business priorities and growth plans.
    • Establish and enforce tagging standards, cost allocation models, and chargeback/showback frameworks across accounts and business units.
    • Provide visibility into cloud consumption trends and deliver actionable insights to reduce waste and optimize usage.
    • Evaluate pricing models, reservation strategies, and licensing options to drive cost efficiency.
  • Landing Zone Development & Maintenance:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and scalable landing zones in multiple cloud environments.
    • Ensure that governance, security, and compliance standards are met across multi-account/multi-org architectures.
    • Continuously refine automation frameworks to support repeatable, efficient cloud deployments.
  • Cloud Engineering & Platform Management:
    • Lead the global cloud platform team to deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade cloud solutions.
    • Architect and maintain resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
    • Establish best practices, operational standards, and key performance indicators for platform engineering initiatives.
    • Proactively and continuously identify opportunities for improvement, develop business cases, and create implementation plans using agile frameworks to ensure continuous delivery of enhancements, automation, and security controls.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Act as a liaison between the cloud platform team and other critical functions such as SaaS Engineering, SRE, Data Ops, and broader Engineering teams.
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions to align cloud initiatives with overall business objectives and technology roadmaps.
    • Drive communication and knowledge sharing efforts to foster a collaborative environment across different operational areas.
  • Enterprise Architecture & Governance:
    • Provide leadership in defining and evolving the overall cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
    • Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of a multi-account/multi-org, multi-tenant cloud architecture that balances agility with governance.
    • Ensure adherence to security best practices, regulatory compliance, and risk management guidelines.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Manage and mentor a global team of cloud engineers, setting clear goals and expectations.
    • Foster an innovative, inclusive, and collaborative team culture while championing professional growth and development opportunities.
    • Implement performance metrics and feedback loops to continuously enhance team performance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience & Technical Expertise:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years in cloud engineering with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
    • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP.
    • In-depth understanding of enterprise architectures, particularly multi-account, multi-org, and multi-tenant strategies in cloud environments.
    • Proven track record in designing and executing FinOps strategies to manage and optimize cloud spend.
  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Skills:
    • Demonstrated success in managing globally distributed teams and aligning technical strategies with business objectives.
    • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience collaborating with diverse engineering teams (SaaS, SRE, Data) to drive integrated technology initiatives.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking:
    • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to evaluate current infrastructure, identify areas of improvement, and drive transformation initiatives.
    • Proficiency in using cloud analytics tools and platforms to monitor, forecast, and analyze cloud resource usage and costs.
