Job Description

The Network Card Brand Compliance Leader is responsible for ensuring that all merchant-facing card acceptance programs comply with the branding, operational, and regulatory standards set by major payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). This role owns the end-to-end management of network brand updates and evaluates their operational and financial impact, including interchange pricing implications, across acquiring operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of Network Brand Updates:
    • Serve as the internal owner of all network card brand updates, including rule changes, branding guidelines, and operational mandates.
    • Lead cross-functional implementation of brand updates across merchant onboarding, POS systems, marketing materials, and operational workflows.
    • Maintain a centralized repository of current brand standards and ensure timely dissemination to relevant teams.
  • Interchange Pricing Analysis:
    • Analyze interchange pricing structures and assess the financial impact of network brand updates on acquiring economics.
    • Collaborate with Finance and Pricing teams to model scenarios and support strategic decision-making.
    • Provide recommendations to mitigate adverse financial impacts and optimize interchange outcomes.

  • Brand Compliance Oversight:
    • Ensure merchant acceptance practices, signage, and transaction processing align with network brand requirements.
    • Monitor and enforce compliance with network branding rules across all acquiring channels.
  • Network Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary liaison with card networks on brand compliance and update matters.
    • Coordinate responses to network audits, inquiries, and compliance reviews.
  • Merchant Experience & Brand Integrity:
    • Guide internal teams and third-party partners on proper usage of network logos, signage, and acceptance messaging.
    • Support merchant education initiatives to promote compliant and consistent card acceptance practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Risk, Legal, Product, Sales, and Operations to embed brand compliance into merchant services and acquiring platforms.
    • Partner with Marketing to ensure promotional materials meet network branding requirements.
  • Policy & Procedure Development:
    • Develop and maintain acquirer-specific brand compliance policies and training programs.
    • Lead internal audits and readiness assessments to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation:
    • Identify brand-related risks in merchant acceptance and acquiring operations.
    • Recommend and implement corrective actions to address non-compliance or reputational risks.

Average salary for this position ranges between $140,000 - $170,000.

You can work remotely in this role, as long as you are located within the lower 48 of the USA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in card brand compliance, acquiring operations, or financial services risk management.
  • Strong foundational understanding of payment network rules, especially as they apply to acquirers, interchange assessments, and merchant acceptance.
  • Experience with interchange pricing models and financial impact analysis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
